FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Deputy Director General, United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), Dr. Lalla Aicha Ben Barka, would be conferred with honours at the maiden convocation of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti on Monday, October 21.
She said an aggregate of 103 students would be graduating at the event, out of which 18 would be conferred with first-class honours.
The vice chancellor noted that the graduands were drawn from the Colleges of Sciences and Social Management Sciences out of the three colleges the university took off with at inception.
Prof. Osho, who justified the large number of students with first-class honours, said the feat was as a result of the commitments of the university’s management to quality education and discipline.
She said the university did not bend the standard to favour any student in the award of degrees, describing the honours as well deserved.
The vice chancellor added that the university, which she said has not been experiencing disruption of academic calendar due to industrial feuds, has been offering academic standard, which their counterparts in the public universities under the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), are still fighting for.
