Nine persons died this morning in a plane crash in Lagos involving Associated airline but six persons survived the crash. According to NEMA officials, an unidentified coffin was also found in the crash.
The plane was on its way to Akure from Lagos but developed fault shortly after take off and it crashed landed close to an aviation fule tank farm near the toll gate of the domestic wing of the Murtala Mohammed International Airport.
It was gathered that the dead persons and the injured have been moved to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. At the hospital when Daily Trust visited relatives of the affected families have started coming to check the families.
The plane was said to have cut fire shortly after taken off. An Associated Airlines plane has crash-landed at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, shortly after takeoff this morning.
The plane was en route to Akure, Ondo State, when it crashed in the airport's fuel dump area, according to a news alert by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
So far there has been no official confirmation of those killed in the incidence but immediately family members of late former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Kokumo Agagu who were taking his corpse for a second lying in state were said to be on board.
According to eye witnesses, the crash happened at the local wing of the airport, close to the section where JET-A1, plane fuel is stored.
Occupants are being evacuated.
