Supporters club lobbies Presidency, N/Assembly for Ethiopia battle

The leadership of the Nigeria Football and Other Sports Supporters Club on Wednesday visited the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in the first leg of what has been described as a national mobilisation for the crucial World Cup qualification match in Addis Ababa next week.
Speaking to sportswriters after a closed door meeting with the leadership of the NFF, president-general of the NFSSC, Dr Rauf Ladipo said apart from the plan to storm the Ethiopian capital with 250 of their members, the club wants to mobilise Nigerians from all strata of life to be in Addis Ababa.

This is a war for Nigeria’s football integrity and we shall be starting on Thursday by meeting the national leaders.”
Underscoring the task ahead, Ladipo said; “we shall be meeting Mr President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, the Senate President, Senator David Mark, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Aminu Tambuwal to whip up the required sentiment to ensure Nigerians storm Ethiopia for this key match.”
Ladipo recalled that the Ethiopians have one strong tradition and that is  massive support for their national team. “We saw what they did in South Africa during the last Nations Cup where they painted the entire stadium yellow against the Eagles. This time, as part of plans to ensure the Eagles secure the ticket, a good support base is required, and only the national leadership can facilitate this.”
“This is a patriotic service to fatherland and as patriots we have put our zeal to it.” Members of the supporters club are currently in the nation’s capital in their numbers.
Only last week when the leadership of the House Committee on Sports visited the secretariat of the NFF for oversight functions, they urged Nigerians to storm Ethiopia in large numbers to cheer the Eagles.
